Friday again!

Yet again the week has flown. The newest Tale From Another Reality is under edit, and I am on a flyer with a new idea borne of a challenge to write the first page of a novelette.

Writers' Group was very lively this week - who would have thought that individual thoughts on religion and faith could be so interesting!

Night out last night - extremely enjoyable with food drink and natter. Hope we manage to organise another one in another month. I wasnt a happy bunny when a guy stopped the bus leaving, insisting the driver call police. Why? he said the couple who got on ahead of him had assaulted him. Nice long ten minute wait for the 'paddy wagon' to turn up and thankfully we moved off, minus the three involved. I wanted an earlish night but didnt get it.

Chin up my fellow Englanders who are still underwater and everything else, snow is threatening here. Cold enough for it at least. I laughed to see the chaos in American deep south with snow - but at least they have the excuse that this is virtually unknown weather rather than our poor attempts to cope here.

Roll on spring, everywhere!

Edit edit edit

The long read through has begun now the first draft of Thorn's Tale is complete. We'll see about that, I might just add and delete all over the place, who knows lol

Night out tomorrow invitation with the girls, should be fun. I am looking through the slim club books to see what is best to eat at Italian. Certainly not my favourite, darn. And I want no sniggers at drinking diet coke without the spirits. I am determined not to overdo the extra no-no's too much. But I shall enjoy the natter regardless!

story 26 at last

26

Petar awoke by the small eddy on the river where the rock had appeared. It was night and he shivered with cold and worry. Davi was not with him. More complications! His head spun.
And he remembered how he had left this place before - he could NOT walk into Bear Camp as if nothing was amiss this time. Get me out of this one, rock, he thought. Of course the thing immediately obliged. As he rose and turned there was Dammi taking a moonlight stroll coming towards him.
“Welcome, Petar. I have been expecting you.”
“Just as well, Dammi, I am more than confused, my head aches trying to put it all in order!”
“Then don’t try!” Dammi laughed. “The rock itself has been ‘telling’ me you were near; it has moved of its own accord several times in the last few days and nearly flung itself at my feet tonight. I had to come and look for you. Yes, I have it with me. Something else I knew without being told, it is meant to be with you.”
“I don’t know about with ME, there should be another with me tonight but he failed to travel here. He holds the knowledge.” He smiled suddenly. “But you are right, Dammi, I hold the rock!”
And he produced the rock that had absorbed others twice already without growth in size.
“Here, Dammi, place it with this and see the wondrous spectacle occur!”
The two rocks resonated and transformed in the golden sheen into one.
“Petar, I can feel the power of the thing from HERE!” Petar could only nod in agreement at the power radiating from it - still unchanged in size. He waited for it to quieten before pocketing it once again.
He grinned suddenly. “Thank you for coming to find me, Dammi. I did not think Camelia would take very kindly to my presence once more!”
Dammi grinned back. “Maybe not, Petar, maybe not. She is well with child and has several suitors pursuing her. She cannot make a bad choice. If the child is a boy, he will be named for you!”

…………

Davi woke in a strange place. The ground shook, the WORLD shook; noises like the cries of demons came from a distance. Was he underground? A group of men looked on in amazement. They looked, well, not quite human.
“Have you come from our friends, stranger?”
“I don’t know. Honestly.” The translator was obviously working. Understanding dawned quickly. “Your friends? With a machine?”
“Yes. We will be truthful, stranger. Our friends intended to bring those of your world here whilst we took their places on yours. Whether they manage to succeed or not is irrelevant now. Our time is up. You must go, as you came, and tell them this. To make a life as best they can on your world.”
“I don’t know how I came here. How can I return?”
“Some higher power obviously brought you to us, in time to pass the message on. It will take you back. Here, take this crystal; it says everything our friends need to know.”
“I am sorry. Truly sorry, I will pass this on for you.”
There was no more time. The burning light and lightening came through the sheltering ground to bake this world to a cinder as Davi disappeared in a pure white light of his own.

Monday happy time

I am dancing around the room in delight. THORN is finally completed! Not that you will see it soon, sorry, it has to go through that awful editing and proof reading. But I am very happy with the results, it is a fitting follow up to Misty's story.

In the meantime, anyone not familiar with Misty Spirit or the Kin books that followed, please visit
http://www.amazon.com/-/e/B00957PD92
http://www.amazon.co.uk/-/e/B00957PD92

I know they are 'niche' books, but the readers have not left bad reviews so far. If you like prehistoric/oldworlde, semi spiritual, alternate universe, these are for you. I am still at a loss as to what to call them other than plain fantasy. Please, give them a go - too many people have liked to call them rubbish.

Happy reading, friends. Hello to my followers in Russia and the far east as well as my faithfully following in the States. You are all more than appreciated.

slow day

Yawn, up late, Friday night was a late one. Can't remember what I was watching though! Sat in jammies all day, wow. No phone calls, no knocks on door; plenty of sawing and scraping sounds from downstairs. The renovation is ongoing. On a roll with the writing - Thorn is now 99% complete and will be with my beta reader shortly. Look out for the plugs before it goes live.

I have also done two writings for the Writers group. One on education, memories from long since past lol And another for a 'first page competition' we are doing which will be judged by a well known regional author. Fingers crossed, he said don't expect praise - well, as long as he doesn't stand up and say what the h--- is this rubbish I will be happy.

So, what shall I write next? Magical Wall Three is still unfinished so there's a start.

Anyone got any ideas they would like to see in prnt/Kindle? I am open to suggestions.

News

Something different for today, my views on some of the news of the day,

Take your passport with you when visiting Scotland? you may have to if Salmond gets his way. I dont think I will be travelling north if that's the case, I have stood in far too many queues for passport control to put up with it any more.

Is Celebrity Big Brother faked? of course it is. Rather more - who gives a toss anyway!

'Anorexic doll provokes outrage' - what on earth were the makers thinking! Barbie figures are bad enough at giving our little ones distorted views on body shape, this one takes the biscuit (or not lol)

Dave Lee Travis/William Roache/Rolf Harris - get their darn faces off the news, please, I have to stop from screaming as Savile's ugly mush is still 'news'. Not that their victims haven't suffered, but come on gals, that was then and was the mainstream culture. I am more outraged at the cover up for priests etc. It feels a bit like kids suing parents for smacking them for misbehaviour. A smack here and there didn't hurt us, as long as it wasn't done systematically. You know what I mean.

'Eggs contain formaldehyde and bananas have ethene gas'- yes,I knew that (onestly, I did) so what's news about that? Nearly all food stuffs have chemicals in them naturally. Get over it folks - or starve. Perhaps I should say (as advised at diet class) everything in moderation?

Nelson Mandela memorial statue has a rabbit inside its ear - the Man would be laughing his head off! Who the heck will get a look at it that high up anyway.

Dudley the duck takes first steps on artificial leg - altogether now, ahhhh.

Made my day

Hahaha. hohoho, Amazon have just recommended my own books to me! Well I never ..... nice to know they are still searchable and noted by the boss so to speak.

I have booked out late February break. Folkestone with a channel hop. Give me a break - they wanted £20 each travel insurance for a day trip????? I have got a cheap alternative option from the net at half the price, but still begrudged. And dang the medical queries - neither of us are going to drop dead or have problems on a day trip with our extrememly common complaints. It's a big rip-off either way, we are at top of age limit as well. FGS, if we were that infirm we certainly wouldn't be taking a week's break, never mind the channel hop.

And we are calling it our last foreign jaunt as well. Proper sunny climes and air travel are far beyond the budget now. We made the most of earlier years and have many happy memories. There are still plenty places in British Isles we haven't been too yet.

Hi to my American friends. I visited your shores back in 2004, and look back with shining happy memories. I envied your SPACE lol as well as chuckling at your 'chips' and 'crisps' - turn them the other way round in England. Sorry, I still cannot think of chips as fries. And I don't eat them any more now I am on a monitored weight loss programme.

WOT - still no comments ..... click on the end of the post, where it says 'no comments', that should bring up the form. I would really love to hear from you.

26 should read 25!

Being super kind, part 25 is as small as part 24,

25

Davi and Petar took their leave of Dammi far out of sight of Bear Camp. He would say he had seen them on their way back north and that they would probably stay there for good. He would not encourage any to follow.
And as hoped, the pair woke in 2010 during the night and within sight of Bear Camp. The girls were ecstatic to see them again. Petar coloured deeply when Oriana wasted no time in piling into the comforting furs with him. Robin was no less enthusiastic in doing the same with Davi.
Just as well we got a good night’s sleep last night both men thought, there would be little sleep this night! The rock gave them only this night and the following day though before the light claimed them again.
The women’s disappearance took a while to discover. Beth had thought both had taken the returned men to their own homes out of the way. When they failed to turn up the following day, a search party was formed. Well, it was assumed they had gone WITH the men this time when they could not be found. .

...................................………

Dave showed both women the ‘guest quarters’ in the restricted area, very plain and utilitarian. The only upside was a replicator from another time that functioned well.
“Before you ask, ladies, unfortunately the replicator does not do weapons, of any sort. I have already tried.”
“You’ve tried? Then you aren’t, you know …”
“With THEM? No and no. The military I abhor, the two weirdo’s are something else completely. Hi anyway, I’m Dave, David Grey. I think I’m David Grey at least - amnesia, complicated.”
“Hi Dave. I’m Oriana and my friend is Robin. Life just got complicated. We’re from …”
“I know. 2010. Mitchell already brought back the rock from that time frame.”
“You already know. OK, that’s good. Bet you didn’t know you are the spit double of a friend of ours, Davi - Davi Grayson. Our project leader, or would be if he wasn’t off on his own time travels.”
“Spit double? THAT is interesting, Oriana. He from your time frame?”
“That’s interesting as well, Dave,” Robin chimed in, “Guess we have never asked and taken it for granted. Maybe not, huh? Keep yourself handy anyway, Mister Double, Davi is/was my lover and you are a prime meat replacement when I get the itch!”
He laughed in delight. “Thanks, I shall bear that in mind Robin. Got to go ladies, sorry. Keep your heads down. I’ll think of a way to get you out of here safely, if not back home. Trust me.”
“See ya round mister replacement. Make it sooner rather than later.”

story time, 24

24

Mitchell was showing signs of wear. How many times he had travelled back and forth he had lost count. Failed missions, all but that one, no other rocks to be found. And his mental faculties were fraying. As his memory faded annoyingly, so his anger rose in its stead.
Dave certainly noticed, and the two, but the colonel seemed oblivious. He had more pressing worries - why did the second machine not work? Had the three misjudged some part of the mechanism? Why did the spare rock not resonate like the one in the first machine? And where were the other rocks? He KNEW there were more to be found, he just knew it …..
The two were also making plans of their own, Dave knew. But WHAT? All the research they had been doing lately was on Earth’s early history. What on earth was that about?
And Mitchell had been sent off again, back to 2010. Why, thought Dave, they already had the rock from that time frame. The colonel’s plan was clear when Mitchell came back with two women in hand.
“Ah, Mitchell, welcome back. Mission successful I see. Welcome to 2189 ladies.”
“So this is the son-of-a-b***h that Mickey Mouse is really working for. What the f*** do you think you’ll achieve by bringing us here?” Oriana spat the words out.
“Oh, no need to be hostile ladies. You are GUESTS. Merely here to encourage our travelling friends to arrive back here sooner rather than later.”
“And I will ensure you ARE treated as guests, ladies. If you don’t mind, of course, colonel?”
“No, not at all Dave. You would be my first choice to show our hospitality. Please escort our guests to somewhere they can rest.”
The two women nearly gaped. Here was Davi, or his near double. No, the hair colouring and style was different, but that was all.

This one is short, so I may, just maybe, post you another bit later. Depends how my memory goes lol

Recollections of school

I have just completed the writers' group homework for this week super early, had me thinking back and smiling to myself. Innocent days where bullies still existed but nowhere near today's levels. Apart from the often hilarious banter I excaped a lot because I was able to help most of the class with English work, spelling and grammar stuff.

I do recollect my poor maths skills were a drawback even then. Mum wondered 'what had gone wrong' when I failed to pass the maths half of the 11-Plus. Shy little creature I was, she had never understood my telling her how useless at numbers I was.

Memories of teachers came and went. The ex-army one who demolished desks pushing a lad out of his way; the science teacher who 'branded' miscreants with a chalk marked trainer; the pervy one who would be out on his precious backside in one day flat now.

The carefree days at College which would now be called sixth form. Those were the best. And yes, I did manage to get a good job without the maths so many had advised me were an essential. At least I don't need a calculator to tally up a small shopping basket full, or check the change. Wish I could spot the duff coins I get occasionally, but eyesight is something else altogether.

Time flashing by .....

A lady at the writers; group said today, "time goes so fast now we are old and slow; yet time is slow for the youngsters who go so fast!" There is a lot of truth in that lol I am of an age where time is spent in not too long intervals between the loo visits. It is so annoying when I am on a roll with the writing and my bottom end has me squirming to get moving! OK, enough of my problems .....

Lots of folk at the group today, thankfully all have recovered from post Christmas sniffles. We had delightful read-throughs of thoughts on 'a typical day', most were very humorous and some had us thinking back to war years and austerity at its worst. Kids these days don't know they've been born - is even truer now than when my generation grew up after the war years.

The last Japanese soldier that held out has died, he did not like the Japan he re-entered after a 30 year delay. I don't think I would be able to make sense of England now if I had been out of it for 30 years. More advanced, but lacking in the social harmony that existed in communities then. No, I obviously don't live in a small community!

I shall be busy this weekend bashing away at the story, re-writing, revising, see you all again Monday.

On a roll day

Short posting today. I have been out and purchased food for the diet for a week, hoping my appetite calms down somewhat.

I have also done at least an hour's worth of story this morning (wow, morning!) and am now going to continue. Musat get it out while it is still fresh.

More tomorrow I hope.

midweek already .....

..... where is the time disappearing to! The news seems to be back to sex scandals - DLT, Mr Roache, Mr Harris ... that heavens no pics of JS once more. My apologies to any caught up in the mess - but that was the culture then, you understood that 'names' got away with it as a 'joke', this was how they behaved. Does dragging them through the mud all these decades later help anyone? No, in my opinion at least. The only good that can come of it will be from today's 'names' behaving themselves!

Anyone for politics? No? Sorry, here's my tuppence worth. For someone who votes faithfully at each opportunity, not to do so would betray the women who fought for the right to vote, I am exasperated at all three main parties. I used to vote lib dem and liberal before that because they seemed to counteract the excesses of left and right. Now I just don't trust any of them. And I don't trust Nigel Farrage as far as I could throw him either. BNP? Shudder the thought. None of the above? Oh how I wish there was this option to put my little cross against!

Story 23

23

Petar and Davi awoke next to a swift moving river, a rocky field to the south.
“Petar? Any ideas?”
“Yes Davi. If I remember rightly, Bear Camp is established not far south of here. This I feel is the place of my first travel.”
“Fine. Let’s go.”
People appeared as they approached with hands outstretched in peaceful greeting.
“Dammi! Dammi! Petar has returned! Dammi!” A child that Petar barely recalled shouted in excitement, she had grown somewhat.
The older man appeared; he had more white in his hair but was still hale and whole. He wore a smile of pleasant surprise with more than a hint of knowing showing.
“Welcome home Petar! And welcome in the name of Dam to your friend.”
“Thank you Dammi. My friend is Davi; you could say he is a fellow traveller. I am sorry I left so mysteriously. I am clumsy! I fell into a small ravine on my return to the hunt and wandered unknowing for days, obviously in the wrong direction.”
“And my people found him wandering,” Davi joined in, “we took him with us when our own hunt returned far north. It has taken long for him to recover his memories. I am still unsure if he has recovered his full wits!”
Dammi laughed heartily. “No wonder we could not find you! And I apologise in stead for our leader and others who are out on hunt not being here to greet you. Come, come, food and drink await.”
Both found themselves at ease and even more so when no ‘in depth’ questions arose that they could not easily brush off, no blatant lies were needed. Dammi did not question, but quietly took in their answers; finally rescuing them from the camp as a whole.
“All is well and good. Now I must take your visitors from you and have my own discussions. The talk will be too esoteric for the rest.”
Davi sat comfortably, he was nervous; he had sensed the underlying tensions and wondered how to explain without seeming mad. Petar had no such reservations and opened the talk.
“Thank you for your understanding, Dammi, and for the rescue. We would soon have run out of evasive answers.”
“It was noted Petar, but only by myself. Neither of you have spoken why you are here. I think I already know. The Rock calls you, does it not?”
Petar smiled at his old friend. “The Rock has called me since the moment I first saw its arrival, but I saw it not here. Is it here? Moreover, is it SAFE?”
It was Dammi’s turn to smile. “I have kept it safe, half expecting your return. I found it and the stone it stood on buried when we enlarged Mammoth heath. The stone bore your own marking, as you marked your own spears.”
Davi exhaled loudly. “So the thing resides in each time frame.” He appraised Dammi with an even more respectful air. The man was primitive, but understood the concept of time travel as if it were an everyday occurrence.
Davi got an equally frank summing gaze. “I am man of spirits, Davi, I believe in things that are both higher and deeper than most even imagine. I feel it is just as well I am the only leader here to greet you, I do not think you will be here long.”
Petar sighed himself. “I also, Dammi, I also. Please, if you would, show us where the thing is safe and we will show you another marvel.”
They were led to a small annex joining the Mammoth Hearth. The carved stone and rock stood as a small altar.
“This, my private meditation chamber. At times of danger I would bury rock again where only I could find. Past few days, rock move slightly on own accord. It has been waiting for you.”
“It has been waiting for THIS.” Petar produced his rock from the deep pocket.
All three gasped as both rocks resonated in a pitch that was too high for hearing, but was felt throughout their bodies. Placing the two rocks together on the stone, the golden light grew dazzling, again the rock became one. Petar felt the power emanating from within, refreshing all three.
Pocketing the thing again, he grinned. “Where to next I wonder. But I hope to have at least one night of sleep in the furs at Bear Camp before we find out!”
“I agree, my friend,” Davi grinned back, “it is too late to return to a travelling camp that is not only beyond site of Bear Camp it is not there!”

And another week begins

Monday morning, ugh ..... even though I don't have to get up and go to work any more it is still tough to get out of bed. Particularly when the view outside is still glistening with frost from overnight.

So, what to natter on about? Ideas appreciated. Work is still going on apace in the flat below us, now silent, must be a cuppa break. At least they didn't disturb my repose by arriving early.

Anyone for buying a book with a difference? Like scifi? alternate universe? prehistory? Tales From Another Reality are all these. Start with Misty Spirit then visit Kenig and Gulec, Thorn's tale is in progress. I don't know if I will ever get round to doing Gentle's story, which will have to be horror. I don't want to be in a frame of mind to write horror, I don't want to get depressed again. amazon.com/author/susanhenry

OK, lunch time. Large omlette with remains of yesterdays Mediteranean style veg finely chopped. Yum. Hope it will be filling enough.

Friday, 10 January 2014

End of the week again

and lost for what to say, lol. Homework for writers' club is 'a typical day' - I shall send everyone to sleep! My story got some kind critique as well as pointers to improve on it. Love my fellow non professional writers. We did a quiz as well this week - guess who won? YES, ME. Hope you can feel the blushes.

So, to bore everyone silly - weather here is just about bearable, 3 celcius and not too windy. Bearable as said. Set to go to minus figures tomorrow night while we are out, brrrr. Time to spend half an hour sorting through the heavier jumpers for something suitable for a night out ... I don't care if I look like a dork ... I need to stay warm! Having said that, the last jumper bought is a poshish M&S thing which should do fine. I am still going to look through the wardrobe though, boring fun.

Diet day 3 - I still haven't cheated. One day at a time. Surely I can keep it up for the initial week? The weekend will tell.

Thursday, 9 January 2014

Lord please stop me spending

I got a Kindle for Christmas. All well and good, but it is so, so easy to overspend without trying downloading books lol There are far too many titles that I cannot afford in print but are rather cheap for the e-reader. I must stop it - now - before my poor depleted account goes into the red .....

Other news. Yes, I did it, I joined Slimming World. The terror of visiting the scales under other watchful eyes will hopefully keep me on the straight and narrow. Only been two days so far, but all well and good. I wait to see if being a good girl will show up on the scales next Tuesday night or not .....

I am being a good girl to you all at least - no rants for now re current news. The world is a truly baffling place, nuf said.

Story 22

22

“Welcome back again Mitchell. Report.”
“Sir! Special Agent Mitchell is happy to report mission successful.” He produced the rock from 2010 handing it over immediately.
“They do exist in each time frame. Excellent!” He turned to the two still downcast academics. “Now build me another machine, gentlemen. This ‘spare’ rock goes back to its place in the Museum for now.”

Petar recovered from the head swipe first, luckily the thing had not landed square and cracked his skull. Both men were depressed. The military now had two rocks and the machine to use them. They argued over and over about the nightmare, finally quieting when they gazed on the rock they HAD. It had not sent them anywhere - yet - it seemed to be waiting for them to recover.

Dave hedged his bets. He helped the Professors build a second machine. This would necessarily have to be inferior to the original and would take a long time to configure with materials from the time at hand.
And he cultivated the colonel carefully, showing more than polite interest in the military’s intentions whilst being totally truthful about exactly what he remembered and did not. It was easier to gain the man’s trust with the truth, no military man worth the name would not see through lies at this stage.
He visited the ‘vault’ - the museum - frequently, saying he found more inspiration from the original carved stone than the holos on the screen. He also found a flaw in the surveillance network that would help him. He left another enigmatic line barely visible on the base of the thing telling where he intended hiding the ‘spare’ rock.
He even played the two against the colonel, telling them he was going to attempt to replace the rock in the vault and see if the military could tell the difference. Their eyes shone in delight at the proposed deception. They presented Dave with a ‘replica’ rock not long after that certainly was good enough to fool him at least.
It worked! The ‘spare’ was in Dave’s hands and where the two could find it when they wanted. When THIS went missing from the hiding place, Dave put his hands up in apparent despair. HE had not removed it. Of course he HAD, but he was not telling the two that he had been busily digging in the one corner of the dark space that was not covered by the surveillance. The rock was safely ‘in its place’ in Bear Camp - the remains of Bear Camp far, far underneath the space considered old in this time. There were caverns and small spaces galore beneath to hide all signs of disturbance. It had taken long enough, but he had done it.

Monday blues

Or post Christmas blues ..... anyone else feeling 'empty' now the world is back to normal?

My thoughts go out to all those who have had Christmas and New Year ruined. Keeping fingers crossed here, north east has missed it all so far. Well, at least the storms that is, it is still freezing. Global warming anyone? I was frightened for those in America when I read of the 'polar vortex' - several disaster movies came to mind.

I can't concentrate enough with the banging and hammering and drilling going on downstairs, I wish to renovation was complete and that the new neighbours were in!

Still no one wants to chat? Are you all feeling bluer than me???! The writing is coming along slowly but surely, finally the end point is coming into sight on the epic tale at least.

There is a new slimming club starting up at my local community centre, I don't know if it will be work a fiver a week, but Lordie do I need help! Shall I give it a go? all answers on a plain postcard please lol, watch this space.

Edit: Hahaha, just read it's called 'Blue Monday'! No wonder I feel so 'off', or should that be 'bleugh'? Hope tomorrow feels way better at least.

Saturday, 4 January 2014

Sorry missed yesterday

Yesterday was not a good day. I am still suffering today, but not as badly. The old IBS again - don't ask!

I managed to get out to writers group and rushed back home just in time. Went out this morning to post office - of course son's last package had to be delivered when no one was at home. It was a tiny package as well - but needed a signature. Again, I got back home just in time. My stomach is rumbling nastily though not with hunger, I am looking at the first Saturday of the new year at home. Rats.

Not looking forward to taking decorations down either, they will have to be stashed in the bedroom until we get the loft ladder fixed. The whole place will look so dismal. And the Minnie Mouse decoration that went up, ohf, some twenty years ago now? - will still remain. I can't reach it lol

Anyone got anything they would like to chat about? Please, not the weather though. On second thoughts there, who else believes the government is blinkered in their tunnel vision of 'these storms are not the norm' - I thoroughly do believe our weather is changing for the worse and should be dealt with now rather than later. OUR money should be spend HERE first, not given away in billions to not so deserving countries.

Back to normal at last

So that's it all done and over for another year. So sad Christmas seems to fizzle to nothing on Boxing Day, never mind the full week after. I spent a quiet new year IN, while hubbie came home just after the bongs a little worse for wear. The long walk home from town was more to blame than the amount of beer he had consumed. So I was in bed by 12.30, and he was asleep on couch until 3am.

With no buses yesterday, it was another day in. At least I got some writing done. Today is miserable and dark and cold so I am trying to continue the writing. Hubbie has been in and out three times - missing the bus three times!

I nearly had palpitations reading the writing group write-up for last week, I am supposed to be doing a workshop on e-publishing? I had agreed to do a walk-through of the indie publishing thing I do! Guys, you will have to be satisfied with that and a quick read of Amazon guidelines for e-pubs. I cannot convert to /pdf never mind anything more adenturous.

So, it is a New Year all over again. Please feel free to comment, I would love to chat as it were.

Hoping 2014 will be peacefully, healthy and enjoyable for all.

Wednesday, 1 January 2014

Happy New Year 2014!

An extra story post for you to celebrate. I would love some comments .....

21
Petar woke shaken. Davi was beside him scanning the area. 2010! He recognised this place.
“Davi?”
“Wait til we get inside Bear Camp Petar. The Rock itself is controlling the jumps from here on in. This must be the safest place.”
The others at the Camp were ecstatic in their welcome of the pair. Beth had been voted ‘honorary second’ unanimously when Davi had last vanished and she and the others were impatient to hear the tales.
Davi had held up his hands as the entire place gathered round them. “Please, we need a few questions of our own answered before we try to untangle our journeys for you all.”
He took a small long object from the side of the Mammoth Hearth where they had automatically gathered.
“Since we are Bear Camp members, sat at Mammoth Hearth for a meeting, we may as well do this traditionally.” He handed Petar the Speaking Stick. “Ask, and you shall be answered as best as I can Petar.”
“Appropriate, esteemed Leader, I thank you for the position of honour. And enough of tradition! Davi, I have so many questions it is hard to put them in order. Approximately WHEN was that place?”
“That was 2510, the ORIGINAL machine. Where I came from.”
“The two brothers were the builders? David (or Dave) and Daryl?”
“Yup. As was I. It’s complicated. Keep going.”
“Complicated doesn’t even begin to describe it! Was this Dave the one who has been adding info to the stone translation?”
“I said complicated, answer to that is yes and no.”
Petar groaned as Davi’s grin rose wickedly. “OK, I’m lost. Tell me what just happened if you can.”
“Ah, the right question at last. As far as I know, and it is pure guesswork so far, the Rock from the 32nd century gave the other the power to scatter the main figures over time. Daryl died destroying the lab. You came back here with TWO Rocks, the final one from 3310 and the one from the original lab in 2510.
“The accumulation of energies went far beyond scattering us back here. It went across time AND space. When Daryl destroyed the thing, it also sent a copy to a far world. How the people of this world managed to understand it and enhance it I can’t even guess at. I do know these people tried it at least, because they arrived in 2189 with the machine, randomly.”
“There are ALIENS in 2189?!”
“Only the two. Their technology is far ahead of ours unfortunately. But on the bright side, they can’t return home without the Primal Rock.”
“And we have that, thanks to you.”
“Yup. Let’s see ‘em anyway.” Petar pulled the rocks from his pockets. He felt the slight warmth; the things seemed to pulsate as he put them side by side. A golden light came from both as they shimmered and formed into one.
Petar watched in awe. Suddenly looking up he saw the pedestal did not bear the stone here.
Beth noticed. “The stone is hidden, we thought it best when Davi last took off on his travels. And if Mitchell is travelling around as well, just as well he doesn’t know where to look.”
“Who says I don’t know where to look then?!” Mitchell stood behind them all, gun raised. Chaos rose. Petar shoved the slightly bigger rock into his pocket quickly and dived for Mitchell’s feet as people panicked. A single shot rang out and Davi staggered clutching an arm.
“Freeze people or he gets it in the head as well!” The tableau froze. “Good. Now, be a good girl Beth and fetch me the rock. NOW!”
Terrified, she ran to the stone and lifted it up revealing the rock shaped space they had carefully carved for the rock that nestled there. “NOW!” Another shot rang out but this was into the ceiling.
The gun levelled at Davi’s head. Beth tossed the rock to Mitchell, who pocketed it and looked at his watch. Petar lunged for him, receiving a swiping blow to the head as a white light flashed and Mitchell was gone.
The people gathered around Davi and Petar to help them. They were in no state to follow, even if they could guess WHEN.
