Broadening social circle

Well, I finally made it down to the library and joined the writers circle. Small group this week (that I was thankful for!) It was lively and fun. I got a free ticket to a 'talk' night at the library Wednesday, wheee. Now got a week to think up something pertaining to a local celeb. Plenty to choose from, but what 'something' will be is anyone's guess! My little story of the man and the seagul went down well anyway. Post anniversary fun

6am, light through the curtains - the moon! Far, far too early to rise never mind shine. Being punished for too much wine last night, need COFFEE ..... Coffee coffee coffee, Oh much more delicious than toffee, Must get my fix, Or mind will keep playing tricks, Ah you big frothy softie! Don't groan please ..... my ears will still hurt. Writing? erm, mind too full of coffee thoughts .....

Happy Anniversary time

Wow, happily married for 37 years! Well, most of 37 years plus the occasional squabble. We have always seen eye to eye on most matters thank heavens. The proposed 'visit' to IT ladies group did not materialise, so we took the bus to Durham for a couple of hours. Nice late brekkie/brunch and latte, short walkabout and back on the bus home. OH has to be on the job at 3pm, not worth the hassle getting home late. Chicken tonight instead of steak, just as well, but no chips! Drizzly day, it rained for most of the day 37 years ago. I remember sat on train heading south and confetti slowly drying dropping off the cases on other people! And our lovely little 'Dunkirk' boat on the Broards - I felt seasick tied up at Yarmouth as the tide came in. So much for being a mariner's daughter .....

Welcome

Hello to my new readers from far away Indonesia and Malaysia, I trust my humour is understood. Also welcome my HUNDREDTH Twitter follower! Wow! Yesterday was a busy day. We went to the solicitor's to sign stuff and have to return yet again as fidly changes made to paperwork. That will be fine, as long as it's not raining. We went out in winter-weight tops and coats, came home soaked in sweat. We should have looked at the forecast lol. I had to change everything. Then I visited the docs for the annual flue shot. Public transport being awkward as usual, I got there just on time. I was in and out in two minutes, to glares from people already sat. I didn't hang around! Finally joined queues in town buying small salad - funny how one day of warm weather brings out the salad urge! Looks like today will be stew or soup again ...

Giving you the chance to comment helpfully ..... Goblins get to 'torture' workment trying to measure out and fell forest where elves live. Given this is aimed at 8-12 year olds - kidnap (take out of reality as it were) and then tickle? with feathers? with long finger nails? 'Drown' with ducking stool? feed goblin food to make them sick? feed 'chillies' that make them feel their tongues are gone (of course they aren't, they've just lost all feeling above neck.) Feed mushrooms to make them 'see' various hallucinations for up to a week? Acknowledgement and dedication to best ideas when next book comes out.

Another holiday to look forward to

Well, I left telephone number twice yesterday and I still didn't get a call back. I finally rang just before their closing time and got through. Should have complained, but no I stayed quiet and just booked the break. Roll on end of October! I wasn't too keen on holidaying that late, but hubbie wants a break away from home while he is off the job. Somebody has bought a book!!! Thank you whoever you are, hope you enjoy it. First of many I hope (not just fingers crossed here lol) And the Twitter following is slowly creeping up. I always said there is something to my irreverent sense of humour.

It's a day of two halves. I have had a really good laugh and smile over at bongodogblog.com/, I am rriends with his no.1 person. Bongo nearly always cheers me up when I need it. Other half - "We will call yoou back, please leave your name and number". I', still waiting, two hours later. I NEED to make other calls now, people! Half expecting to hear the phone ringing in the lounge when I'm sat in the ladies room so to speak lol Weather is glorious sunshine but the temperatures are bare into double figures! I'm sat shivering in fleece and tracks. Too worried about cold to come to suit up in truly wooly stuff. Getting old I guess. 'Uniform' for the younger generation on weekends is shirt sleeves and minis, brrrrr, yep, I'm the old dork in full wrap and hat, not a bare inch showing that doesn't need to be. I was a wimp back then, too, the only one with a cardi on .....

The sun is shining ...

The sun is shining ... but the wind doth blow - it really blows! The whole house feels like it is shaking. Brrrr Back to the kitchen - another coffee will help banish the shivers, well, that's the idea at least lol Dand dang and double dang - all the titles save one processed OK. Gossamer Threads lost its cover image and support team have sorted overnight. I now have to resubmit whole thing - another day or two. Ho hum. Bit of excitement - postie has just been, sound of something heavy landing on mat. Hope it's my book orders ..... Come on readers, please comment! going cloud cuckoo .....

I lost a day somewhere this week. No, I havent been at the bottles either ... I was looking at Saturday's early TV schedule yesterday, and wondered why the schedule seemed to be totally off when the gogglebox got turned on. Now woke this morning to sound of helicopter overhead and thought, great, the run has started. Turns box on, no Great North Run. And what is this brilliant sunshine coming at me?! The forecast for the Run is supposed to be well and truly WET! Well, vaguely realised I wasn't out on the town last night - today is Saturday! My excuse for all this idiocy? too much editing methinks lol - but no writing still, have to take mum's birthday stuff down to the home.

late thoughts

Busy, busy day. Had to do clear up (couldn't find what I was looking for until I did!) Two more books are now pending republishing, last small one to go. I'm unsure if I will republish the last omnibus seeing all the probs I had with the first one. I really should get down to more writing but the edit process needs to be taken to the end as it were. It will niggle too much if I dont and that aint conducive to new writing anyway. My birthday boy has just hugged his mamma and is preparing to return to his own home. The wifi here is what keeps him coming back, that and the hot meals lol Time for my bed now, yawning in front of the screen is not a good idea. Now where did I put those fluffy socks? it is FAR too cold to go to an empty bed without .....

PDF blues

I managed to download a PDF converter programme, yay, actually got the book converted and showing on screen. BUT - the accompanying edit programme is doing my head in. I keep exiting programme instead of saving/going back, don't know whether I'm coming or going. Yes, this old dog is getting too old to learn new tricks, at least not in a hurry as I'd like! On another note both happy and sorrowful day today. Happy my nephew has turned another year: sorrowful for the thousands from 9/11 who will never make another year. I can hardly believe it is 12 years ago! The world hasn't turned a lot more peaceful since either to our collective shame.

Weird dreams

Been having some funny ones lately, funny peculiar that is. I would like to have ideas for two current stories to come to me, not the peculiar ones I'm talking about. I don't do thrillers, whodunit's, that kind of thing - that is exactly what the dreams are tho! Someone is trying to 'get' my non-immediate family. It is done by jumping through photos. Have I been looking through old photies too much to find one in particular, or been on geaneology sites too much lately? Watching MasterChef had me buzzing round the kitchen in dream doing stuff I could never do in RL ..... Hoping tonight I will dream of Thorn again, or the elves' village. There you go, you know exactly which two stories are currently in progress lol Come on folks, wave or say Hi! I PROMISE to return the greeting.

nice surprises in post

Well, two brown envelopes and hubby did not want to open them. Actually turned out to be nice rebates, haha, instead of the dreaded we want more! And first item ordered via net this last week arrived last lol. That's it for now at least, take stock of what I've got and think about some more stuff later. There are always new decorations, but those need to wait until December, the only things that really need to wait until then. No, sorry, festive perishables are always last. Editing ground to a halt - programme keeps saying margins are no good, no matter what I try. Three attempts to get it right today is more than enough! Time for a little light reading before time for the weekly knees up .....

more boring stuff

Sorry - hope the title does not put my readers off before reading! Editing well under way and about half way. All updated volumes will be out well in time for the big rush. Anyone else started Xmas shop? I have a head start on most lol I HATE finding 'last minute' stuff is sold out too late to get an alternative. Always on the prudent side when it comes to postal stuff too - as always bits arrive the next day and the bits I needed first arrive two weeks later. And my yearly medical - everything hunky dory save I must keep to the diet. Yuk. I still have an overactive sweet tooth. Early (or extremely late) resolution - NO MORE PASTRY! Lets see if that lasts to January lol.

Editing in full swing

On a roll, finally, eyes stable enough to spot the annoying mistakes. One book down and four to go, sigh ..... the joys of being a writer! No plugs as promised. Just to let you know where the blog name came from. Tales From Another Reality volume 1 is Misty Spirit's story. Alternate universe, sort of stone age, life is often a struggle. But my world is not overtly violent and there is a lot of spiritual meaning. The next four volumes follow the second group of humans - the Kindred of the Land, or Kin, rather than Misty's Shades. Volume six which is still in process of being written, will feature Thorn first met in volume one before Misty undertakes her life journey. And back to the editing .....

Never thought I would, but got an invite from contact C A Shilton. Her book 'Barricades, the story of Javert' is an excellent take on the Victor Hugo 'villain's' background. If you liked Les Mis you will like this. And I said no plugging this week - it is allowed to plug a friend! The editing is going slowly, my eyes were near streaming yesterday with concentration. I shall persevere though, those pesky errors shall not go un-noticed this time around. What, no comments from anyone? Come on, please, I KNOW you are reading! Doesn't need to be much more than a hi or a wave .....

Serious edit time

I spent a few calm hours yesterday actually reading some of my own books. Yikes! That's not meant to read 'rubbish' by the way. Basic formatting mainly, plus a couple of now glaring errors in text that just have to be corrected. So no plugging today, or this week. Serious work to be done .,.... see you later alligator, or, I may be gone sometime .....
