Lovely scudding clouds and bright sunshine out - I am still under the weather inside. Now running to the loo as well as coughing madly. Yuck. It looked lovely yesterday, too, but was near freezing when I went out. So much for the snowdrops and crocusses appearing, it is still freezing!
Roll on summer, when I hope to have the excuse of moaning about the heat instead!

Good news
I am on a roll ..... cough and cold notwithstanding, last night's weigh-in was a pleasant shock - I have lost the first half stone! (I HAD expected to put the initial quartert stone back on over the break). So I celebrated - with a two finger Kit-Kat lol
Totday I went out food shopping and came home with a bag full of healthy eating and another pleasant shock at the low price of the haul. And I left those naughty biscuits and cakes where they belong - still in the supermarket. That is the best diet tip of the lot - if you don't buy it you can't eat it!
I still miss the Greggs sarnies though.
Mitzy and Socks has been overhauled, tweeked and cover changed. It won't be long before it is up for sale again.

extra chapter, 32
32
Davi was surprised but not shocked to discover he was swiftly carried by the two much further than the medical facility.
“Please accept our apologies, Davi, that idiot called you?” Slongur queried. “I have a feeling you will know where you are headed.”
“Bear Camp by any chance?! Oh, don’t make me laugh …”
“Indeed. Where your two lady friends wait safely. And where we stay. Dave has a plan, we do not know what. He could be your brother, the resemblance is amazing.”
Squeals of delight and concern greeted their appearance.
“Davi! What have they done to you!”
“The colonel, not these two, Robin. No, no, help me later; I have something here for my new friends.” They lowered him to a sleeping platform and he produced the crystal.
“I hope this works for you, gentlemen, it would not for me. I think you have been without news from home for too long. I am sorry.”
Lagarto took the fragile thing in wonder, stroking it carefully; letting the thing read his DNA before finally kissing it gently. It floated before them producing a wide ethereal picture of a far strange world.
Lagarto and Slongur had tears in their eyes as they looked upon their home, that they knew was starting to burn from the livid colours behind the figures that formed before them.
“Brothers. Our time is at hand. We pray you receive this message. Our poor misguided attempt at survival is finished. It is as the Great Evermore wishes, we go to join our ancestors. There will be no new to follow. Make what life you can on whatever far world you have found. Be at peace. You will now be the last of our kind; use whatever time is left to you for GOOD.”
“Davi. You saw?”
He nodded, as choked with emotion as the two. “If it is any consolation, gentlemen, it was quick.”
“It is consolation,” Lagarto spoke through the tears, “it is as we have feared long enough. When the machine appeared to us it was as if a miracle had been granted. We obviously chose to use the miracle for the wrong purposes. Now we have paid.”
“Indeed. What of us now?” Slongur almost whispered.
Davi was being helped by Robin and Oriana together. They could not remove the bullet, but cleaned and bound the wound. Davi nearly choked on the hot tea being poured gently down his throat.
“Ouch! That’s HOT! What of you now, gentlemen? I think that question remains for Dave and Petar to solve. We wait here for them.”

Story time post 31
Hope you are all still enjoying this, and thank you for your patience in the long wait last week.

Dave was about to make his way back ‘upstairs’ when Slongur and Lagarto appeared in front of him.
“Glad to see you again, Dave, very glad indeed. The lab is not a good place to be at the moment.”
“Um, really. OK gentlemen, you have found me in my hidden lair. Now what?”
“Nothing, Dave, nothing. You already know we are not the colonel’s friends. Two strangers have just materialised - one who looks very like yourself…”
“Davi! Davi is HERE?!” Robin could not contain her joy.
“Ah, ladies. We thought as much, Dave. The colonel has the entire complex under search as we speak. We took the precaution of following your hidden track of course, as well as closing or barring doors on the way. They will NOT make it this far.”
“Then I feel I need to be there this time. I don’t know why, I just do. Like when I dug down here for no apparent reason!”
He turned to Robin and kissed her briefly. “That’s for now, I intend to return for more. Oriana, Robin, please make these gentlemen at home. I suddenly TRUST them. Gentlemen, in case the militia do make it down here, please take care of the ladies and that rock over there. Yes, that is the real one.”
“No, Dave, we have to return with or without you. Mitchell is still at large as it were; if he returns our two new friends will need all the help they can get.”
…………
The colonel had lost his temper eventually and fired a single shot. Poor Davi now had a second bullet wound in his body, in the thigh this time.
“NOW will you tell me where the rocks are?”
“Go take a running jump,” Davi muttered through clenched teeth.
“That might be a good idea!” Lagarto announced from the door, Slongur behind him holding a reluctant looking Dave.
“Gentlemen. I thought you, too, were gone. And the reluctant Mr Grey too.”
“As if, colonel!” Slongur smirked. “This is our project, even if you think it is yours. It goes nowhere without us.”
“Maybe. And me too. You didn’t get that far without me, did you?” Dave smirked, trying to assess the situation. “But we don’t want INTERFERENCE, do we gentlemen?”
“My presence is not interference, Mr Grey, it is insurance.”
“Insurance that seems intent on gaining information by violence.” Lagarto spoke, looking at Davi who was being supported by Petar.
“Yeah,” Davi moaned, “First Mitchell, now his puppet master. OK, I’ve had enough. Get me some help and I’ll talk.”
“No!” Petar shook.
Davi stopped him. “Petar, the chase is up. These people here should be our friends; we owe them the tale at least.”
Slongur clapped in delight. “Yes! We are friends! You must tell us everything!” Turning to the colonel, he added, “We shall escort our friend to the medical facility colonel. You may send your own escort with us if you wish - we are not disappearing again!”
“Yes, do so. No one is going anywhere further now. I trust you, remember that, my men are needed here, with the machine.”

Next week's story post 30
I am away on hol next week, so posting now what you should be waiting for still.
30
“Ah! At last! Welcome, gentlemen, welcome!”
Davi and Petar barely heard, they still heard the whistling bullets coming for them. At least Mitchell did not seem to have come with them.
“You have something for me, I believe?”
“No. You have something for US. We have come from 2010 in pursuit of our females friends.” Davi was thinking on his feet as usual, hoping that the military man would believe him.
“Hah! Of course you have! Dave, please bring our guests.” He turned. “Dave? Where is he?!”
“Our colleague has taken a little longer lunch break than normal. Shall we find him for you?” Slongur spoke silkily. He would also like to know where Dave had got himself. Both men had looked for him earlier, and noted that the female guests were also nowhere to be seen. Dave was a resourceful and devious fellow. The colonel did not seem to have noticed.
“A kind offer, gentlemen. Yes, do so, please. You would know where to find him more than I.”
Two armed men suddenly appeared at a run.
“Sir! The women have gone!”
“Find them! Find Mr Grey! Now!”
Davi and Petar had watched and listened in fascination. Mr Grey seemed to have matters under his own control here, not the two, nor the military. Petar swiftly emptied his pocket and kicked the rock under a dark bench out of sight.
Davi knew the two disappearing through the doors ahead of the fatigue clad figures were the ones he needed to speak to. It would have to wait. They needed to get the rock out of the machine in front of them. They needed the rock under the bench to remain unseen. He wished he knew where the rock from 2010 was.
…………
Lagarto raced ahead and out of sight of the militia, doubling back to where Slongur waited. He had seen the feint and ‘disappeared’ himself.
“Any ideas, Slongur?”
“None whatsoever. Wherever he vanishes to, it is well out of sight.”
“Out of sight. Out of sight - of course!”
Lagarto gestured quickly at the solitary figure sat at the security screen. A swift blow to the neck and they watched fatigue clad men searching the entire facility.
“Out of sight, Slongur, out of sight! Look for the parts the system is missing!”
“Very clever, Dave, very clever indeed. Multiple little blind spots. But where do they lead?”
“That is given, Lagarto. THINK! What was Dave researching on his own?”
“The work of a minor genius indeed. What the man would be with memory! What he could tell us of home!”
“Let us hope that the colonel remains as unknowing as he is seemingly stupid. Come, let us go to him. I think the lab has become a very dangerous place indeed to be now.”
………
The colonel turned back to Davi and Petar. Things were going awry, but he at least had these two, and the one working machine.
“No, no, gentlemen, please stay where you are.” He brandished an old fashioned pistol.
“As long as you are pointing that thing, fine. We already met Mitchell with one of those. Just missed us in fact.”
“Really? That IS unusual. I take it he didn’t get the rock then?”
Petar was about to answer in the negative but Davi stopped him. It had been a trick question, and Davi had given him the clue!
He laughed. “You already got the rock! Mitchell appeared back in 2010 again, everyone went for him of course. He managed to fire off plenty before we came here.”
“Yes, you came here. Just as I wanted actually. But HOW? You have no machine. You obviously have a rock ….. AH! The ROCK! Gods below, have I been blinkered! Of course! You don’t NEED a machine, do you? DO YOU?”
The two looked him in the eyes with shrugs and innocent expressions.
He bristled. “DON’T make me angry, gentlemen! I don’t need to kill to get answers.”
Davi laughed again. “It’s not us you need to be talking to you know. Those two you just sent off to look for Mr Grey are the ones you need. They have the answers you want.”
“Those freaking aliens? Don’t make me laugh! They think we don’t know their plans to take over this planet, hah! They don’t know what WE have in mind for them!”
BINGO, guess confirmed Davi thought.

Naughty political views
Please feel free to disagree!!! Mr S from Scotland accuses Mr O from England of 'bullying from Westminster' - er, excuse me, isn't that exactly what you are doing from your own high horse up north?
Having a yes/no referendum this year is completely useless in my opinion. Far, far too many details are not worked out that should be set in stone before anyone decides one way or the other. Mr S is leading his followers up the garden path, towards the hidden cliff.
At home - wow, the Thames floods and help is there in 24 hours. Why has it taken a whole month and more to help the poor folk in Somerset? Or are the whistle blowers right for once, the secret agenda is to turn the place back to the medieval landscape? Hlf the reason the region is such fertile farming area is because it is old wetland fgs. We have snow here and freezing temps - but better than being waterlogged that bad.
Head in sand politicians have been advised for decades of increasing bad weather, but nought gets done until its too late of course. Would be nice to see Westminster float away, but the horrors for the rest of the capital make the wish a very lonely one.

Storytime again, post 29
29
The furs were still cold when they awoke in a dark and damp place, very disoriented. A small gleam in the dark was all that could be seen.
“Davi? You here?”
“Yup. Nice to hear you too Petar. Where the heck now? This certainly isn’t 2189. You able to stand OK?”
“I am stood, shmuck! OK, I can’t see any further than you Davi. What’s the guessing the point of light is IT?”
“Not taking bets, you’d win this one hands down. Here, where are you?”
“Here, stay still - I’ll follow your voice.”
The two stumbled together, hugging warmly in sheer relief. They moved uncertainly towards the gleam in the dark. The thing glowed brighter as they approached. Of course! It knew when another piece of itself drew near!
Torches lay by the side of the pedestal and they quickly lit these. Petar thanked the spirits for matches, which he now always carried alongside the fire stones. Both had learned to carry some small items ON them, ALWAYS.
Bear Camp? No, but a miniature camp lay before them in the distance in front of the pedestal. Davi lifted the rock in reverence. Petar reached in his pocket.
“No, Petar, not yet. I am guessing where, rather when, we are. If this is the place of the jungle we need to see those at Bear Camp first. It would be too cruel to remove their protection without some word of warning.”
“Agreed. Let us see if it offers US some protection, be it day or night outside. And let me see if the passage I helped dig is still intact.”
It was dark outside and the night rang with roars and screams. Human screams, not far away. But Bear Camp was much further than this as Petar remembered. Who was outside the nightly protection?
They ran in the general direction, not willing to wait for whoever, or whatever, to find them without weapons in the museum interior. Creatures of unknown origins fled at the running light. A figure lay on the ground, torn beyond recognition. A figure in military fatigues.
D*** Mitchell! Davi thought, he is HERE, and he brought help with him. But we have the rock, ha! Too late, Mitchell!
They ran on. Shots rang out between screams. Petar tripped headlong over a trailing creeper as a shot whistled over his head. Turning on his back, he saw the bizarre sight of Mitchell running towards him, eyes mad red, whilst another in fatigues was pulled apart by a raptor like creature in the background. His torch died in the wet undergrowth around him, and he heard a low grunt from Mitchell. No further shots came his way. Screams were still around in all directions, quickly silenced.
Petar felt himself lifted up.
“He get you? Petar?”
“No. No, I tripped, just in time.”
“Come on then. Which way is Bear Camp? I only winded him. He has night vision goggles, we haven’t.”
“The museum is, that way Davi? Good, Bear Camp is this way. Not far now.”
They ran at a stumbling pace. The forbidding place went eerily quiet.
“There! Light!”
A fine shower of lights lit around them for a few seconds and they nearly ran into the folk of the camp who stood on the other side of the field, armed to the teeth.
“Petar! Davi! Now we know our time of protection is at an end.”
Danny clasped them both by the hand in welcome.
Petar looked back at the field, which suddenly flared red and a scream of pure hatred rang from the far side. It this was Mitchell, he wasn’t getting through apparently.
He looked at Danny with a question in his eyes.
“Yes, the field works of its own accord. None but yourselves have come through from the outside. I wonder why.”
Danny nodded in grinning acknowledgement as Petar patted his pocket. Only one with a piece of rock could breech the barrier.
Lyn was asking them to join them for talk and more tea.
“No, I am sorry Lyn, there is no time. Look, dawn is fast approaching and the field will fade. Mitchell is mad, he will kill without thought to get the rock. Please, all of you,” Davi addressed the armed gathering, “We are truly, truly sorry, but we have to take your protection from you, now, before others take it from you. When we are gone you will be left without the nightly field. I do not know what else will still work for you…..”
The sun broke over the horizon in a single long beam as Davi and Petar hastily placed the two stones together. The blinding white flash rose. As they vanished a rabid screaming Mitchell ran towards them firing wildly, vanishing himself as the flash faded.
The furs were still cold when they awoke in a dark and damp place, very disoriented. A small gleam in the dark was all that could be seen.
“Davi? You here?”

Its Monday again
And you know what that means - plug time!
OK, short and sweet for once lol MITZY AND SOCKS is now in paperback and Kindle, sorry I couldn't price lower than production costs. It should make you laugh, smile and cry. THORN'S TALE is still under edit but will be up before long, I hope. You should know where to look, but here are the links again.

This weekend was a wash out in more ways than one. My favourite watering hole is having renovation and upgrade so I stayed in. Well, I got to weatch a couple of sci-fi films, that was it. Crisps instead of drink for naughties. I thoroughly intend to be out next weekend, whatever.
And again, my sympathies to all those living in the south and still under water. It has to dry out eventually!

Plug for a friend
Please visit http://bongodogblog.com/ It's a blog written by a good friend of mine, or rather, by my friend's canine companion. Truly hilarious at times, the world as seen from the eyes of the dog, and interesting takes on bible stories as well. I visit when I need a smile or a pick-me-up, it never fails.
Finally make it to the surgery for my script, took it to the chemist. I have to call back tomorrow for the last of the pills. I am glad I am already booked to go into town tomorrow.
I have opted out of the government thing to access medical records. I don't trust them to keep the records themselves. I have opted into letting the surgery send the script straight to the chemist when this scheme comes out in the near future.

Sympathies
Something out of the ordinary today - the weather. Don't groan! Life is turning into horror for folks in the south west and along southern coast and south Wales. I am shivering looking at photos of places I have holidayed in, and love. Sympathy and thoughts go out to all who are affected.
Heavy driving rain here at the moment, hubbie has just gone out on duty in full waterproof gear, leggings included. But at least we are not getting battered with the kind of sea surges down south (yet, anyway). Who said it's only weather??!!! A hundred year thing? More like an onknown quantity now, methinks. Weather worldwide is crazy, pure and simple. Glad I already live upstairs.

instalment 28
28
Petar and Davi arrived within seconds of each other back in 2010. As they entered Bear Camp, pandemonium broke out.
Beth held her hands up for silence, finally roaring “Shut it!” as a dozen people tried to get the first word in.
“You guys alone?”
“Of course, why not? What’s up, Beth?”
“Oriana and Robin have vanished, Petar. We had assumed they went with you two when they didn’t turn up the day after you travelled.”
“Oh, h*** and damnation. We’ve been two separate places, Beth. Petar, best tell your tale first; mine is even more unbelievable than usual.”
“Then that must be some tale Davi. Come on folks, get the tea going and we’ll compare notes.”
The gathering was now completely silent as Petar spoke of his probably last visit to the time Bear Camp was founded. There was much amused laughter when he told of a yet unborn child then that may have been the first Petar in the world.
Davi’s tale was greeted by astonished silence. Davi felt the shiver and aching acceptance of finality as he saw the place disintegrate again in his mind. The small crystal was a mystery in itself; nothing they tried brought any reaction from the thing.
“If it doesn’t work, Davi, what use is it?”
“At a guess, Beth, I’d say it WILL work - in another time frame, or when it gets in the right hands. Pure guesswork, but putting jigsaw pieces together I’d say 2189, and whoever is there at the lab. And our lady friends.”
“You think they were taken there, Davi? Mitchell?”
“Yup, in a nutshell. It fits more than any other harebrained idea. I hope they are OK though, Mitchell seemed more than a little nuts at our last meeting.”
“So, we wait for our next transport then. And hope it is 2189. Beth, have you any of that excellent berry juice you were working on? I feel a need for something more robust than plain tea.”
“Do I! Several skins of it, Petar. And I agree, we ALL need something more than tea right now.”
The several skins emptied in sombre mood and the folk retired to furs later instead of leaving for the night. Both Davi and Petar found the furs cold.
An extra short bit for you. Have you figured it out yet?

episode 27
27
Dave was true to his word and found a way to smuggle the women out of the restricted area and down to the lower Bear Camp remains without being seen. He had suddenly found it ridiculously easy to configure the surveillance forming several blind spots around the complex.
His only problems arose keeping the two inside his blind spots - the brief glances at the outside and the recreation areas were proving irresistible to the curious and enquiring women. He breathed out in relief as they reached the point where the surveillance ended. And the women groaned when they saw themselves being led deep, deep underground.
“Where are we Dave?” Oriana asked as they finally stopped inside a long and wide chamber.
“Don’t you recognise it?” He grinned as he released several ‘star globes’ from a low store box. The place lit up in welcoming white light.
“Oooooh, Bear Camp!” Robin shouted in delight.
“Yup, not just Bear Camp as you know it, nor the replica outside of the lab complex, but the ORIGINAL Bear Camp; miraculously preserved over the millennia. And that rock on its stone pedestal is also original - at least it’s the one Mitchell brought back from 2010. I liberated it with a bit more difficulty than I have just had with you two.”
Oriana blinked in the light, looking round in new appreciation. “Yet Bear Camp with more than a touch of modern comforts I see.”
“But of course, ladies, did I not promise to look after you? As many comforts as I could safely bring down here unseen at least. Amnesiatic I may be, but I FEEL things are moving and I wanted a bolt hole of my own when the proverbial hits the fan up in the lab.”
Oriana lit the small fire of smokeless fuel in the central hearth and started heating water.
“You got time to tell us what you DO remember, Dave? I make a mean rosehip and honey tea.”
“And I make mean drop scones once my sister gets the fire and tea going well Dave.”
“In that case I shall stay just long enough, ladies. It’s about time I had some rec time with pleasant company.”

Another manic Monday
Manic??? Phone calls, knocks on door, every single one trying to weedle money and or information out of me! Argh!
I am busy editing, stop the infernal interuptions!
MITZY AND SOCKS will be up in print and Kindle shortly, a very short kiddies book about a cat and dog. Have a look, it should make you smile if not laugh out loud.
THORN is still under edit - well 318 pages takes a lot longer to edit that 28 lol. And I have to get back to Magical Wall 3 - where on earth will I find the time?!
