Hi folks, as I am away on hol next week, time to put Monday's plugs up now lol.
My 4 smaller books are being plugged this time around, they all make excellent stocking stuffers and coffee table reads. All links somewhere further down the page on blogs, just keep scrolling.
Time Jumpers - a head spinning run through prehistoric to far future times. Keeping you guessing til the end.
Gossamer Threads. A fairly gentle tale of what might have happened if you had new penfriends around the world on the cusp of war and beyond. Hearwarming.
The Magical Wall - two stories so far - Holly has a marvellous secret, the door in the wall takes her to alternate reality Eternia where she and her brothers and friends find adventure and thrills.
Come on people - give me something to smile about when I get home next week - leave a comment, if only to say 'hi'. I shall be sans technology for the week and hope withdrawal symptoms dont show too early. Bye for now and have a good week yourselves.

Rain rain go away .....
Managed to get into town and back relatively dry. Last night's deluge kept me awake yet again. I am amazed we are still waterproofed. Travelling south on Monday, gong to be hairy with winds and wet. I dont care if it is a wet view, it will be a change of view. The case will be heavy with woolies, not a scrap of lightweight stuff, unless you count the third layer of vest that is.
Ah, lovely sunshine at the moment, hoping it stays a while. What would we do if we could not moan about the weather .....
Go on, give me a shock - leave a comment next week while I am away to come back to!

Xmas shopping
I had a lovely trip on the Metro today, early shopping in the city. Weather glorious, but I still complained of sun in eyes - it is no fun not seeing where you are going against the crowd who are determined to brush you aside!
Well, hubbie said jumper I got for son is good. Good, cos I got him one as well! The stocking filler gloves I was after appear to have sold out already. I shall have to travel in the other direction I think.
I had to come home early though - funds tight as away on hol next week. Nothing worse than seeing what you want on hol and no money left to buy.
Anyone else trying to hide sweets yet? I am giving most to hubbs to hide so I can't go on a raiding spree. I have to hide the biccies from him for same reason!

Wet Wednesday
Middle of the week, Wednesday is
Wet and windy Wednesday is
So how much writing have I done today?
How much have I done this week, what's the delay?
My muse is barely waking, that is why
This poor offering is all I can provide
Because it is the middle of the week
And noisy rain and wind make good ideas leak.
Who else was delighted with the Bake Off winner last night? That last cake turned all the tables, wish I could have picked some out of the tv to eat lol

Storytime .....
Next chapter for you, I shall be away for next week so the next wait will be long.
2
Petros took a long time remembering, and then did not tell the truth anyway. He had many adventures being part of the camp travelling traders group, and soon was speaking well if not totally fluently. Apparently Petros was not far wrong - Petar came from another people far north. They had been attacked and massacred by a hostile neighbouring camp, he remembered running out of his burning hut in the middle of the night, clothes falling off him, making his way to the wide river. A spear had caught him a glancing blow and he had floated, senseless. How he had not drowned he attributed to a love of Dam who had saved him.
This was well and good, more than plausible, but Dammi knew lies when he heard them even if the others were satisfied. He let the matter be, Petar had proven to be a fine hunter with equally good stone knapping skills. He was become a valuable and well liked addition to the Bear Camp.
Time passed and the people forgot how Petar had arrived amongst them. Several of the young women made shy passes at the handsome light haired man. He shared pleasures at festivals with many of them, but had no particular favourite or tie to any.
The night of the heavy thunder storm, Dammi was intrigued to see Petar shivering at the Hearth. Settling down quietly, he looked the man in the eyes.
“Petar, something bothers you. Share with this Dammi. I am here to help.”
Petar looked back, the fear slowly fading from his eyes. “Dammi. You already know I have told untruths about how I came here?”
“Of course, nothing is totally hidden from one such as I. Now is the time for my enlightenment.” He gave a small twitch of a smile as encouragement.
Petar relaxed. “I thank you for your forbearance and trust Dammi. I told lies because the truth is unbelievable, even to me. Our camp was indeed attacked, in the middle of a storm such as this. I rushed out and started my own attack on those that would raze my camp and people out of existence. My axe was broken and I ran from the fray to replace it quickly. I was struck by a crackling bolt from the sky, lightning yet not lightning. I awoke naked and unknowing in your place of stones.”
The fear re-emerged unbidden. “The storm calls me, Dammi. I do not wish to go out and meet another Bolt …..”
Dammi laid a hand on his shoulder. “Then stay here by this friendly Hearth until the storm has passed. If the storm wants you, it will wait for another time it catches you in the open.”
“You believe, Dammi?”
“I believe.” He raised his eyebrows. “No one would make up such a strange tale for the sake of it. You did well with the initial lies, Petar, none but I would - and will - believe.” He grinned. “And now I will understand full well why you will not willingly go out in a storm!”
They laughed together, but Petar was serious again. “Have you any idea, Dammi, what in the nether world of spirits I have been touched by?”
“I know not, Petar, and will now spend long hours meditating to find an answer for you, if there is one. Know that I shall keep watch over you.”
“Thank you Dammi. It is good to have shared.”
………
Dave did not regain his memories. But the two who looked after him - Professors Slongur and Lagarto - were even more convinced he came from their place as he quickly drank in the basics of their research. And to a point he was able to assist with the ‘menial’ tasks that should have been far out of anyone’s reach in this world.
As the months went by, he integrated more and more with the strange pair and became an enthusiastic ally in the search.
He overheard the pair one day on an open communicator while he conducted his own little experiment two doors down the hall.
“It’s NOT working, I tell you! We get an energy peak and nothing!”
“It MUST be! An energy peak means a bolt; we just haven’t made it stable yet.”
“So where are the results? We should have SOMETHING materialised …..”
Silence fell, and Dave heard the sudden slam of the lab door. He made noises and clatters moving quickly to the far side of the room. The pair burst in, seeing him diligently comparing compounds and noisily putting them away. No red light on the communications panel.
“Um, Dave, we were thinking. Your memories must be returning, at least little by little, with all the work you are completing. You STILL remember nothing of how you got in the lab?”
He sat back on the swivel chair. “Why no, Professor Lagarto, no idea. You want me to work on it harder?”
“No, no, Dave. Just interested, that’s all. Be sure and let us know if anything does come back won’t you?”
“Sure thing, Professor Slongur, straight away. I sure couldn’t keep a thing like that under my hat for more than a few minutes!”
They left, satisfied. No way was he telling them he had arrived in a bolt of white light, even if he still had no idea where from.
The project was fascinating to him, and he knew he MUST have some scientific knowledge to manage as well as he had. But he wanted to know what was the ultimate aim, the goal, and the two fell silent far short of letting him in on the ‘big secret.’

What to witter on about ..,...
It is not only very lonely doing a blog, it is highly difficult at times to think of something to talk about. Yes, my life IS boring in the main, but you should have already sussed that out long ago. You didn't? Mind if I ask exactly lonely are you yourself most of the time? I had a great morning at the writers group, my semi horror short tale went down well. I laughed along with the rest at Louis' tale of pidgeon English and misunderstandings. Now I have to write a serious piece about our beautiful coastline nature parkland. Think I will have to try a bit of poetry this time, wish me luck! ... Come on people, I KNOW you are reading ... comment, please! I don't bit, honestly! (More than can be said of the tiny creature that chases me down the street every chance it gets lol)

Please feel free ...
... to comment on the rant, or answer.comment on previous posts. It is lonely by myself on here .....
Bit of a rant
OK, is anyone else as sick and tired of seeing Mr Savile's ugly mush once more? He's dead and buried and good riddance to the scum. Always thought he behaved too big for his boots and got away with murder. Thats about the one thing he didnt! ... Even MORE recycle bins? My yard is overcrowded with them as it ... So Mo Farah always gets stopped at immigration - after being stopped twice because I 'looked nervous' (well, duh, I WAS nervous!) I sympathise. And the worst of all - 'elderly care plan' - a great big huge whopping sell out/betrayal of hard working people who are still being kicked when they are down, and it is the government - both sides - that is kicking them slowly into the gutters. Disgrceful! ... There, rant over. Please note - no post tomorrow as eyes getting checked and wont be able to see clearly for half the day

Storytime again, chapter 1
1
The first man lay on the ground, naked, burnt. Had his clothes been burnt off him? He shivered, his skin was raw and red but the burning was not that serious, more of a case of heavy sunburn than a true burn of fire. How did he know this? Where was he? More to the point - Who was he? I am grown, that much he knew from his size, but his mind ….. Like a child. He knew hunger, cold, instinct ….. But no KNOWLEDGE.
Rising, he staggered a few steps, feet hurting on the sharp stones in the few grasses. I’m not used to the nakedness then he thought. Instinct told him to seek shelter. People. WATER. He ran to a small rivulet of water and drank copiously, splashing his red skin, finally sitting, lying in the cooling bliss. He rose as his burn heated body cooled to cold.
He ran, not caring his feet were becoming raw from unaccustomed abrasion, he needed HELP and fast.
He was seen coming from the distance still at a run, but stumbling as if in exhaustion. Two from the camp rushed out to help the naked runner whilst the rest watched from the arched entrance in avid curiosity. The man was helped to a platform at the Healer's Hearth, and Dammi set about washing and covering him with cooling salves. The feet were raw, to be expected if he had run from the river over the stones. They would heal fast enough. He had said nothing more than ‘thank you, thank you’ in a totally unknown tongue before he had fallen into exhausted sleep.
They decided to call him Petros, for he had appeared from the stony place on the edge of the flood plain. **********************************************
The two found the second naked figure actually within their secret laboratory. They called it secret because none but they were allowed access, and they guarded the contents more than jealously, paranoid in the extreme. Their project would alter the course of the war they said, no news of it must leak to stray ears. No cleaners were allowed, robot drones cleaned ceaselessly in random motion.
Assuming finally that the man had come from the same place as them; well, no one on this world had the skill to breach their security, they assured him he was of their own and had lost his memory in the biggest explosion the lab had seen. They were sorry he could not remember exactly how he had produced the explosion, for they would have to be even more vigilant themselves not to reproduce it.
Never mind not remembering that, he finally spoke when his burns had been treated - exactly who was he was more important! They said he was called Dave, David Grey, a scientist of high calibre. Or at least he had been ….. And his language WAS theirs, not of this world …..

help, please! classic horror story
This one is driving me nuts ... done my 'homework' for writers group, and thought of classic tale set in a cell where the inmate complains of seeing horsemen/swordsmen coming across the sands/beach towards the prison every night - they get nearer every night as he 'dreams' - guards finally hear his grizzly end last night as they refuse to believe and keep him locked up. Anyone know what I'm talking about? I am certain this is a classic, but cannot find it - neither author or title. Please put my mind at rest - I don't want to start dreaming this myself .....

Way hay, cracked it!
Last week's word play 'homework' at the writers group was a near disaster for me, synonyms and antomyms - tho' I DID get a few right ... cracked this week's anagram puzzle in fifteen minutes flat, thats good if you're wondering, lol. Now about the written short story bit, that is a complete blank at the minute .....

Friday writers' group
A very enjoyable morning at the library and the group. My small tale of the ancient holiday snap went down well enough, and some interesting tales were shared. I got the short straw this week - my turn to take the book to read and comment on next week. The homework for the week is a toughie - describe a scene within a cell. Eek. THAT will take a lot of serious and not so serious thought lol

Think of a title, dammit ...
Title says it all, mind mush at the minute. Guten Tag meinen Deutshen Freunden, I know that's wrong but you know what I mean ... A big huge wave to the peeps on Twitter who followed me overnight too ... It is very gloomy and wet and windy outside right now, and I am hoping it clears a little for 2pm when I need to go see mother. Sitting in wet clothes and steaming in the heat is definitely not fun. Going to hand feed her choccie buttons or the like, stop the babble for a while. She still loves chocolate! ... How is everyone's Xmas shopping going? started yet? I am half way there lol, it is far easier to get stuff from Amazon and have the postie deliver it. Not that that will stop me from hitting the shops once the displays go up. And I need a jumper for hubbie. Just remeember that books make excellent stocking stuffers, hint hint lol

day of relaxation
Sorry if this is a boring post. I am relaxing, slightly glowing and feeling wonderful after an hours soak. Bliss. Didn't think up any more plot though, that was a disappointment! Downloaded another two free books to Kindle for pc. Kindle is still in wrappings (meant for Xmas) and being ingored until then. Another coffee I think, and back to re-reads of Mary Stewart's Merlin trilogy. She gives the magician a far better end than legend and paints a much more human figure. So who read yesterday's forward? It does not tell you anything about the story lol. I promise to give chapter 1 next week, any and all comments will be read but not necessarily acted upon.

Tuesday beginning story
As promised, first taste of one of my books. Please enjoy ........
FORWARD
“To think, we have aliens - devious, conniving aliens at times - to thank for our good fortune, Dave.”
“Dang whole nightmare had me thinking I was too for a while Pete!” He took another long draught of beer and smiled at his friend. “But we aren’t far short off it, are we?”
Pete laughed and grinned. “Well out of time, yeah, but who’s to know? I like the world that I’m in now. Primitive by your birth standards, as far from primitive as you can get by mine. This place is magic!”
Dave became serious for a moment. “And where by theirs? They integrated here well enough, they seemed happy though, back to their ‘roots’. And who knows it’s impossible to rule out there IS some of their DNA in us! Talk about magic/technology. Yes, yes, WE know, but we’re not about ‘inventing’ stuff that far out of its natural time scale, are we? Are we?”
Pete grinned wickedly. “I’m not sure of that yet, Dave. Some of the stuff could be a real big help here and now. Stop looking like that! Of course I agree with you, but surely a little, teensy weensy thing like a transit badge couldn’t hurt?!”
“Yeah, or a working replicator, guess not, Pete, guess not.” He grinned back. “Now we have all the time in the world to think about it, money no object, military off our backs. Time to visit the women, you reckon?”
“Sure thing. And talk them into moving to our private idyll of an island with all the modern comforts this world can afford, and more. I half think they’ll be expecting no less anyway!”
They laughed again, drank up and exited the old fashioned boozer and light signalled a flying cab from the wide sidewalk.
They would carefully invite a few others to join them over time and see the rest set up for the future. Which was now there without threat …..
Life was good, and could only get better from here ……

Saturday night in
Oh dear, just the kind of post I did not wish to make. At home alone, Saturday. Darn. Nuf to say innards not playing nicely and I'm not taking chances of being embarrassed out on Saturday. Upside, there is one bottle of wine available and fresh juice to top it up with. I can still get merry ..... not the same on your own though. So this sad person is going to trawl through Twitter to find some laughs. Did someone mutter I can get up earlier Sunday then? Oh no, I shan't lol Just noticed some weird audience stats, I seem to be popular in the far east! Well, hello everyone, if the figures don't turn out to be a super glitch .....

is it Friday already?
Where has the week suddenly vanished to? And why can't I remember doing much on any specific day? Don't you dare all shout 'you're going senile!' at once! This blog, plus writing, and now writers group, are specifically undertaken with due care in order to keep the senility as far away as possible, thank you very much. My other joy in life, window shopping hardly counts in that direction. And why oh why do I see the exact dress/skirt/cardi I want when I have no money - only to visit the bank and return to find they have mysteriously sold out of my size in 15 minutes flat! !!! I shall begin posting single chapters of books next week, not necessarily from the same one each successive week. Comments will need to be made in order to gain further chapters one likes most.

How embarrassed explained
Oh how embarrassing! I visited the local library to enjoy a chat and read session with Alfie Crow and Kate Fox last night with others from the writing group. Darn tickle in throat nearly had me turning blue, I ran for the loo at half time. Highly embarrassed I had to give my excuses, I couldn't sit through the further half like this! Waited ages for a bus, coughing and making people move away from me ... I spluttered at the driver who also hastily turned away, sorry mate, then it finally subsided as I got to the front door. Now shall I dare show my face Friday at the group or not ...
How embarrassed was I ...
Oh how embarrassed was I ... as from the fun I was forced to fly ... the cough was so fickle ... an infernal tickle ... oh how embarrassed was I ... To the driver I could only stutter ... a barely audible mutter ... Oh how relieved was I ... as the cough disappeared with a sigh ... the TV now beckoned ... the armchair welcomed ... of how relieved was I.

Late one ...
Apologies for the late post, but busy, busy day here. Back to the solicitors once more, finally got the matter sorted. Hooray. Short pub visit for brunch, home to check emails, out to see mam with sister in law. Pooooo ... she was up to her eyes nearly and hands in it ..... thankfully the staff were there to clear the mess! Very chatty but not one word of sense. She really enjoyed dunked biscuits though. Apart from her immobility, she is healthier than we are at the minute. Anyone else got the early lurgi? Nose runs the wrong way and you can't get rid of the cough to bring it up? My ribs ache ..... And out again tonight to a poetry/story reading session at the library. Hope I don't cough too much. Kindle said my epubs were not linked to paper versions? Yes, they WERE, but they have sorted it all out again. I think the system went haywire when I updated versions - I now know what NOT to do lol

The Great North Folk Festival
Went with hubbie to Bede's World this weekend to visit the Great North Folk Festival. It is his cup of tea mostly, I like some and dislike some. Names to mention - Darcy Da Silva, Tom McCoinville, Richard Grainger, Ethna - amongst many others. A very successful Festival all told. I hope they repeat it. Only prob we had was leaving half way through a set and having to run for the bus that was slightly early (not good on ahalf hour late service). Got home and put the main light on - bang, another bulb gone. I had not realised Bede's World was as big as it actually is, I should be ashamed to admit I have not visited before. I will be back now.
